Lewis D. Cloninger, 67, significant other to Jerri Morrow since 1997, of Stanley, NC passed away on January 5, 2025 at The Greens at Lincolnton after a long struggle with complications due to cardiovascular disease.

Lewis was born November 23, 1957 in Gastonia to the late Fred and Ruth Cloninger previously residing in Stanley. He graduated from East Gaston High School and went on to a diversified career in aviation and construction. He was happiest at his home with Jerri in N. Myrtle Beach, SC, surrounded by friends and family.

He enjoyed fishing and spent most of his free time on the water. Lewis will be most remembered for being able to fix anything that ran on fuel. In addition to Jerri, he is survived and will be dearly missed by: his son Russel, his brother Michael and his wife Margaret Anne, his brother Larry and his wife Lisa, his sister Cindy and her husband Joe, and his brother Norman and his wife Kelly.

Lewis’ family would like to express their deep gratitude to all the friends and neighbors for their many acts of kindness and support. A memorial service will be held from 2 – 4 PM on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at Carothers's Funeral Home in Stanley, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his memory may also be made to a charity of your choice.
